Japanese Paper Company is Liz Jones and Megan Adie, two creative professionals based in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark.
In the summer of 2019, an American friend came to Sweden to do a printmaking residency, and ran out of the Okawara she had brought with her from home. When she could find no reasonable substitute, the plan was born: we would open our own small business, importing paper from Japan.
Megan is a professional musician (double bass), holds a degree in Book Arts (UC Santa Barbara), and worked for several years as a full-time professor of Printmaking and Book Arts at a university in San Francisco, California. She co-organizes an annual printmaking residency in Switzerland called Edition/Basel and publishes under the imprint Aviary Press.
Liz is originally from Wales, and is a professional trumpet player. She has a wide range of interests and skills and has been ‘clean hands’ in many print shops around the world.
