Hisako Uchimura makes paper in her one-woman shop near the town of Ogawa. She primarily makes Hosokawa-shi, using the finest materials, including Kozo she has grown herself near her studio. This paper is a more affordable version of that paper in her heaviest weight, #16, made using highest quality Kozo from China. It is a soft, strong sheet, with a warm tone and good stiffness. The paper is unsized and has some degree of transparency. It works well for both water- and oil-based printmaking processes and is a beautiful surface for pencil drawing.
